McCarthys completes £2.9M Rolls-Royce showroom refurbishment
A Midlands-based commercial property contractor has completed a £2.9M structural remodelling project for Sytner Group.
Following a competitive tender process, McCarthys was appointed to enhance and expand the existing Rolls-Royce showroom at Sytner Sunningdale, Ascot.
The space was transformed by knocking the original showroom through to a neighbouring building which increased floor space by 3.5K sq.ft. It will be used for Rolls-Royce as well as providing additional office space on the 1st floor for Sytner’s BMW dealership.
Steve McCarthy, managing director at McCarthys said: “Given that Rolls-Royce is a luxury brand, it’s essential that customers have a parallel experience in the showroom. The objective with the renovation was to create a space that exudes sophistication and elegance. By expanding the showroom, Sytner was able to provide a truly immersive experience.”
Previously a NatWest bank, the adjacent property required specialist work and expertise to adapt, including the removal of the vault. McCarthys guided Sytner through the design process, together with architects at ATA Design and structural engineers at Price & Myers.
The refresh also included relocation of the entrance doors, to enhance customer experience, and the creation of a first floor roof terrace which required a new platform, lighting and tiling. All elements required specialist, client-approved suppliers to deliver against bespoke requirements.
This is the latest project delivered by McCarthys for Sytner, with the two companies having a working relationship since 2017. Over that time, McCarthys has delivered 18 schemes for Sytner’s used car shops, as well as BMW, MINI and Ferrari dealerships, ranging in value from £250K to circa £3M.
Gaynor Inman, head of sales at McCarthys said: “We’ve worked closely with Sytner over the last six and a half years which has allowed us to understand their specific requirements and evolve our ways of working. It’s been a privilege to collaborate with them again on this scheme and we look forward to future opportunities.”
The 52-week project finished in time for the dealership to re-open for business in December 2023.
